Ultralight Fishing, tackle, lures, lines and other similar equipment are important options when bass fishing starts to get tough This way you an often catch a keeper or even a few small bass. It is a good option when other things won’t work, but most of the time it does not work for large fish. This type of angling is very suitable for rivers, even small streams.

If you are taking part in a club tournament and find yourself stuck and not catching anything, you should consider trying a finesse lure. Making use of this has given many a despondent angler a new lease of life and helped him to get back in the tournament.

What is ultralight fishing exactly? The name describes a type of fishing where the anglers make use of very light weight rods and reels, mainly to catch sport fish. It was never designed to use for catching large fish, so using it for that purpose will not meet with much success.

The name of the game here is often small rods. Now when we speak of small rods, we don’t mean miniatures. Many of these rods rods are close to two meters in length, and although manufactured from light weight material, they are extremely sturdy and able to do the job they were designed for. They very often have most of the same features you will find in the larger rods.

When it comes to the choice of reels, many fishermen prefer the trusted old spinning wheel. Small here also does not mean minute, and they have the same features as many of their bigger brothers. They are extremely solid and reliable, yet weigh only a few hundred grams.

You should make sure that you buy the right fishing line to use with the rod and the reel. If you choose the wrong line it will negatively affect both your casting distance and overall success rate.

The hooks that you use should of course also be of a size and type that is suitable for light weight sport fishing. You aren’t catching sharks my friend, this is simply sport fishing.

Fishing lures:

The correct type of lure would depend on the type of fish you will be catching. Below is a short summary of the most important types used by fishermen:

*Spinners/spoons. The lure of choice for many anglers. Spinners have a blade that spins, either by itself or with a shaft in the middle. The spinning causes the water to start vibrating, and a large number of fish species find this very alluring.

*Small jigs. They also come in an assortment of sizes, but all of them manage to imitate various items of prey, including crayfish. This is usually very successful with fish in the sunfish group and thus the right choice if you are after catching pan fish.

*Smaller stick baits/crank baits. They look like miniature bait fish, and predatory fish type like small mouth bass and various types of pan fish have a distinct liking for this kind of lure.

By this time you should realize that your choice of ultralight fishing, tackle, lures, lines and hooks will have an important effect upon the success of your fishing trip, and on the amount of fun you are going to have.

Ultralight Fishing isn’t a tough sport, but sometimes you need a Ultralight Fishing Tackle in order to have a successful day on the water.

Carp fishing is a popular hobby that has a long tradition in Europe, and is growing in the States, as well. Carp are known to thrive in almost any type of water, making them an easy to find and attractive fish to angle for. All fishermen know that no matter what you’re chasing, good angling gear is needed.

There might be no piece of fishing gear more important than the rod. If you want a suitable fishing rod for carp, you will wan to find one that is at least medium action, and also at least six feet in length. For beginners, this is an ideal rod to get into this type of fresh water angling.

Right after the rod you need to consider the reel. All good reels are open faced, not closed faced, and can hold a great deal of line. At a very minimum, you should be able to spool 150 yards of 12 lb test. More is better, but 150 should be your minimum standard.

Obviously you’ll want to know what kind of bait to use. While carp will hit about anything, the preferred bait seems to be sticky smelly stuff. Think of the kind of bait that catfish would like, and you’re on the right track.

More advanced carpers will often use racks with several rods, or “pods,” and set them all up with bait and wait for any carp to show. These rod holders can be very expensive, but also free up the hands for anglers who don’t mind catching up on a good book while waiting for the trophy carp to show.

Without the right fishing line, the rest is moot. For carp the absolute “lightest” fishing line you want is 12 pound test line. Heavier line isn’t a bad idea, either.

While there is big time fishing gear for carp anglers that costs a good deal of money, starting gear can be had for fairly cheap. Carp angling can be a very rewarding hobby that provides many hours of entertainment, making it a cheaper in the long run over many other forms of recreation.

These are the basic things you have to look at when considering carp fishing gear. If you look at every topic and make an intelligent and educated decision, you’ll be enjoying pulling in the trophies in no time at all!
